Despite rapid advances in prosthetic technology, an estimated 60% of amputees lack access to a prosthetic device because of disparities in healthcare, insurance, access, and many other factors.

To overcome these inequities and ensure that all American amputees have access to this essential health technology, disAbled Life Alliance, a public benefit corporation, announces the Prosthesis for Every Limb Initiative.

The disabled community in the United States comprises 26% of the population, with approximately 62 million people affected (CDC). Currently there are over 2.1 million amputees with an additional 185,000 new amputees each year, and projections indicate there will be 3.6 million by 2050 (Amputee Coalition). Overall health, mobility and independence are at risk without a prosthetic device and proper care of amputees.

disAbled Life Alliance is partnering with Crowdsmart, Inc., a collective intelligence AI technology, to further this initiative. Crowdsmart AI technology will enable members of the amputee community to contribute their ideas, engage with other community members' ideas, and be a crucial component in accomplishing the objectives of this critical initiative.

Together, our goal is to develop innovative solutions by identifying the challenges that community members face, sourcing programs and companies that are addressing these issues, and collaborating to create a comprehensive, inclusive, and accessible program that can be broadly adopted.
