Overview of Vessl Prosthetics

Vessl is a medical device company on a mission to make prosthetic care more intuitive, adaptable, and accessible. We’ve developed the Kinn Automatic Volume Management System—an adjustable prosthetic socket system that automatically responds to limb volume changes throughout the day. Designed in close partnership with amputees and prosthetists, Kinn replaces outdated, one-size-fits-all methods with an adaptive, more personalized solution. Our approach blends engineering precision with human-centered design to improve comfort, mobility, and confidence for people with limb loss. Vessl is currently preparing for market launch in North America, with clinical research underway and growing interest from leading practitioners in the field.

Our Ask

At Vessl, we’re building next-generation prosthetic technology that puts adaptability and comfort back in the hands of amputees. Our Kinn Socket System responds automatically to changes in limb volume—solving one of the most frustrating and overlooked challenges in prosthetic care. We’re looking to connect with prosthetists who want to offer more flexible, patient-centered solutions, amputees who want to help shape the future of prosthetics, and funders who believe that better outcomes start with better tools. With support from the disAbled Life Alliance, we hope to expand our clinical collaborations, accelerate development, and get this technology into the hands of the people who need it most.

Product or Service

Our flagship product is the Kinn Automatic Volume Management System—an adjustable prosthetic socket that automatically adapts to limb volume changes in real time. Unlike traditional sockets that require manual sock changes or frequent refitting, Kinn uses a mechanical system to maintain a consistent, comfortable fit throughout the day. This reduces pressure points, instability, and frustration for people with limb loss, while also saving clinicians time in follow-up appointments and adjustments. Designed to integrate seamlessly into existing workflows, Kinn empowers both users and prosthetists with a more responsive solution that supports better mobility and quality of life.

Company Impact

Vessl is rethinking the most foundational part of a prosthesis: the socket. While socket discomfort remains one of the top reasons amputees abandon their devices, innovation in this area has not kept pace. Our Kinn Socket System offers a first-of-its-kind solution with automatic mechanical volume adjustment that keeps up with the body’s natural changes throughout the day. The Kinn system uses walking motion to automatically adjust custom panels against the leg with each step to maintain a consistent fit throughout the day. This can significantly reduce fit issues, improve user confidence, and minimize time spent in clinics for adjustments. Our impact extends beyond the product itself. By centering the lived experience of amputees in our design process, we are building a more inclusive model for medtech innovation that treats adaptability, comfort, and dignity as essential features rather than afterthoughts.

Primary Audience

The primary beneficiaries of our product are individuals living with lower limb loss who rely on prosthetic legs for daily mobility. We also serve prosthetists and clinicians who are responsible for fitting and adjusting prosthetic sockets. By improving socket comfort, reducing the need for manual adjustments, and streamlining clinical workflows, our solution benefits both the end users and the professionals who support them. Longer term, payors and healthcare systems also stand to benefit from improved patient outcomes.

Partnership Opportunity

We are actively seeking collaboration with funders interested in supporting the growth of our company, as well as those looking to invest in targeted research partnerships with academic institutions. We also welcome partnerships with prosthetic clinics and amputees who are interested in testing the Kinn Socket System and sharing feedback. These new opportunities will build on our ongoing user testing efforts with clinics across North America, where we are already evaluating the benefits of Kinn for both patients and providers. By expanding these partnerships, we aim to strengthen the clinical evidence base, refine our technology, and accelerate access to more adaptive and user-centered prosthetic care.
