Overview of Tactus

We are Tactus, a Boston and Hong Kong–based startup building a groundbreaking wearable technology platform that seamlessly integrates electronics into textiles. Our first product uses this innovation to make music more inclusive for the Deaf community, delivering an enhanced vibro-tactile experience that lets users feel rhythm, beats, and musical nuance through a garment. Moving forward we plan on expanding our cutting edge wearable tech into broader applications across multiple industries.

Our Ask

Introductions to potential partners and funding resources.

Product or Service

Our product was developed with the Deaf community through many design iterations. The result is a wearable device that looks and feels like normal clothing, available as a vest or jacket with a discreet, simple design that integrates easily into any outfit. It offers a simple user experience: connect the battery to turn it on, disconnect to turn it off and wash the device if needed. Our patented technology translates the full range of music into vibrations, conveying rich detail to the body. The device works via Bluetooth for personal use or can process live audio in group and concert settings, expanding use cases and advancing our mission to make music more inclusive for the Deaf community.

Company Impact

Our goal is to make music more inclusive and accessible for the Deaf community. We collaborate with Deaf schools and Deaf organizations to provide this access towards the community, so that Deaf students and individuals can get have a more well-rounded music education and experience.

Our product is the first to seamlessly integrate digital electronics into a garment, delivering a discreet accessibility solution the Deaf community has long asked for. It offers a simple, intuitive user experience while providing a superior musical experience. Unlike existing solutions that only capture the bass frequencies, our patented technology translates the full range of music, covering a much larger frequency range, conveying richer detail through vibration. The diverse use case of our device allows us to work with organizations to expand the reach of our product while also appealing to consumers to drive further adoption.

Primary Audience

Our beachhead market is the Deaf community. There are 11 million Deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the US, and 466 million worldwide. We are narrowing our target audience to the 6.6 million in the US and 164 million worldwide within our target age range and geographical markets. Our core direct to consumer user is a young Deaf adult who enjoys music, attends events, and is open to adopting new technology that enhances accessibility. We also expand our target customers towards Deaf organizations, schools, institutions, and event venues that prioritize inclusive experiences and seek reliable accessibility solutions for the communities they serve. While our target users are Deaf users, we are open to providing this experience for hearing event attendees and music enthusiasts as well.

Partnership Opportunity

We would like to expand our partnerships to Deaf schools and organizations so that we can make our technology accessible to the Deaf students and individuals they serve. We would also like to partner with event organizers and venues to attract and invite Deaf attendees to participate and enjoy the events that are being hosted.

Funding Needs

We are looking for potential customers and organization that are willing to adopt our technology. We are also looking for funding to kickstart our initial production batches and marketing efforts.
