Overview of Adaptation Ventures
Disability, neurodivergence, and aging form one of the world’s most underserved markets: nearly 2 billion people globally with over $18 trillion in annual purchasing power and 9x ROI per $1 spent on assistive tech.
We attract mission-driven founders who bring extraordinary insight to their work, often through personal disability affinity or deep research. This is an exciting market-driven opportunity, with assistive tech poised to be a $112B industry by 2034 and dramatically higher customer loyalty than average, yet it receives less than 1% of VC capital. We fill the “first capital in” void for this overlooked opportunity.
Adaptation Ventures is led by Brittany and Rich Palmer, who bring a rare combination of entrepreneurial success, national investment and innovation leadership, and personal insight as people with disabilities – directly representing the market they invest in. Both GPs have been on all sides of the table – as exited founders, global operators, and leading early-stage investors. This pedigree, plus their personal experience as people with disabilities, makes them the “go-to investors” that exceptional founders seek out, eager to have as marquee names on the cap table and in the boardroom.
Adaptation Ventures is a majority women and disability owned venture capital firm.
Investment Thesis
Adaptation Ventures is a pioneering pre-seed fund dedicated to fueling tech innovation in disability, neurodivergence, and aging.
Fund Portfolio
Adaptation Ventures leads pre-seed rounds and co-invests in seed rounds across sector-agnostic, US-based startups serving the disability, neurodivergence, and aging markets.
We invest up to $250k into companies that provide products and services that are a necessity – not a luxury. We look for capital-efficient startups with a high likelihood of successful venture-scale exit, started by founders with lived experience, deep affinity, or research expertise in the disability sector. We are especially keen on startups at the intersection of necessity and universal appeal, who are able to leverage the curb-cut effect and create the companies and innovations which will come to define the next decade in terms of scale and impact.
Fund Impact Goals
Our impact is market-driven, not charity-driven. This is different from every other bet you’ve made: a thematic investment that is both financially compelling and profoundly purposeful. Additionally, many of our Limited Partners have affinity with disabilities themselves – making them not just investors, but invaluable validators of product-market fit and champions of our founders.
As our work meets several UN Sustainable Goals (3, 4, 8, 9, and 10), successful exits by our portfolio companies reflect the achievement of massive, global impact for end users with disabilities.
